This is the result after a whole day figuring out how a wanted to upgrade my #workbench. I absolutely love it 🥰 the contrast of colors gave character to the shop and now it feels good to assemble projects and work all day here! Didn't do a video, right now the place is a disaster. I need to put stuff away that I don't use and live the necessary tools around so I can work comfortably. I've decided to have my little #woodshop have some contrast all pine color gets boring after a while. I love the contrast between pine and traditional cherry so I went ahead and venture with these colors with my #drillpressstand and the workbench that I’ve made like 2 years ago. I've finished them of with shellac that stuff is easy to use dries fast and makes your wood look beautiful, it looks fantastic!

Despite what the Government says and what people are doing is a no brainier that if you go out in public you need to wear a mask, is just common sense. We are leaving in a very dangerous and difficult times and if we all collaborate and protect ourselves this COVID-19 will go away, is just that it takes time.
So I've manage to squeeze some time and work with my scroll saw and make this fun sign. You can find this free pattern at www.stevedgood.com. I've made 2 of them that will be display in public businesses. They were made out of birch wood and the base is made out of pine, then I've coated them with water base polyurethane, love that stuff makes your wood come to life. Over all a fun great little project to remember folks to wear their mask. So if you ever been on Instagram or YouTube as a Wood Worker you know that we sticker swap, so I've started a while back doing this and I love it. I've made stickers with Vista Print at the beginning and started swapping as soon as I got them, this year I've wanted to use my new logo for the stickers and this time I've used Sticker Mule but I've order some small ones to see how they were and I like the quality, but I can use them only for branding since they are too small for a swap. If you would like to sticker swap here with me go to my sticker swap page and we can exchange stickers and have some fun. Never the less I want to thank everyone that I have sticker swap with me mainly from Instagram. I've met lots of new Wood Workers and they make amazing things, I've already got a board to display them and I want to make a video about this so stay tuned. It was about time for me to work on a small project, this time I was in the need of a tablet stand for my iPad so what better way to do it on the Scroll Saw. For this project I choose to use Poplar Wood, I’ve use a Scroll Saw pattern from Steve Good Catalogue, this is a great place to get free patterns and practice with your Scroll Saw. The layout wasn't that difficult and it was an easy cut, this stand has 3 pieces and all you got to do is glue them down and that's it you are done. What I've liked about this particular tablet stand is that it has 3 positions that you can use while using your tablet. Watch the video on how made this project and how it works. The experience was cool, love the outcome now I can see YouTube Videos while working or if I need to do research I have my iPad on my workbench and accessible. One more thing Happy Labor day! Exciting news! We have partner up with Tee Spring for our Merh, we have T-shirts and stickers if you want to show off this cool, comfortable shirt to your friends while you are working on your own wood shop or any where you go. Visit our Merch store here.
I've got this stool at at Oreilly's Auto Parts, is suppose to be a mechanic shop stool but is perfect and comfortable for my wood shop. Is very cool with a nice cushion has wheels and also hydraulic what else can I ask for! Now you are probably asking yourself why I didn't make a wood stool, well I was in the need of something more sturdy since I'm not a pro wood worker yet so I didn't want to risk it. If you want to check out how I've assembly this stool watch the video, it was very easy to put together. I highly recommend having a stool to work with around the wood shop in those times that you need to sit for while, in my case I will also use it when I'm working with my Scroll Saw which I adore is the best thing ever. Now I have a nice place to sit and scroll away, can't wait to show you all the projects that I have in mind. I've started a little project for me for my little wood shop. I was in the need of a small table to organize certain things in the shop, a friend of mine came to visit and saw what I was doing. She asked me if I could make a couple more of these small table for her friend that has children at home due to the COVID-19 they can go back to school yet and don't have a space to study and make their homework, the grandfather of the kids was the one who always was there for them and he past away about a month ago due to COVID-19. I was moved and inspire by the project and we went to the big box store and buy more material. We came back with a big smile and start assembling the tables. They came out sturdy and firm and they are light weigh, I've used 2x4's and plywood, some wood glue, screws and WOALA! Done deal. These are not the best design but one thing for sure is that they are going to be useful for those kids. Not only they are useful, I felt that I was doing something good for someone in need and help out. Children are always first in my book specially if they are in need, we are leaving in a very weird and dangerous times and we all need to be together to heal the World and make it a better place. I've just got a new domain for my website you can find me now at www.rosewoodworkusa.com this is very exiting since I've been wanting to have a domain for this site. I have allot of work to do when it comes to changing logos , business cards, stickers and social media but is all good.
Rose Wood Work has a true meaning to me now more than ever, I feel a connection with my father that use to be in the wood industry as a provider in South America in the early 80's and 90's and for some reason the more the years pass the more I resemble and look like him and now I know he was truly my father. He was not a creator but he had lots of ideas and love to work with wood when he was able in his free time to get a hammer, sanding paper and some paint. He past away in 2002 and that was the last time I saw him. My interest for wood has been there all the time, is just that I didn't have tools to create and parents never let me use a power tool way back in the days when I was younger. Now that I have some of these tools, I got some knowledge and lots of safety I can't believe what I can do and is certainly showing. With this thought, all I want to say is that I miss him, despite all of what we went through and all he stood for and believed. He is the only one who really care for me and all I do now as a wood worker is in his honor. No one will ever tell me again that I'm not his daughter and I'll always be your Little Viking... Well is that time of the year that is getting near to winter, so I wanted to make some fall decorations. I've follow a Doug Linker's Tutorial on YouTube to make a scarecrow. This little guy was very fun to do, I'm enjoying very much the carving makes me feel very at peace and good. I've use again Butternut wood, this time being very careful with the cuts since is a small figure. Using my Flexcut knife I went away and started carving. Then the fun part was painting, as usual with my craft acrylics! Next wood carving project for fall will be a pumpkin, can't wait! I've got an apron for the work shop, it was highly need it since I get all cover in wood dust sometimes. So it was obvious I've need it space to hang it while I wasn't around my work space. Looking around for a nice small piece of pine I've created a hanger for the apron. The process was easy, I've stained the wood with weathered gray and wait for to get the paint dry, then with sanded paper I've distress the wood. Once that was done the wood was ready for some Shellac, for protection. I've put together the hardware and is done, I’ve got a hanger for my wood work apron! It was a great little project, sometimes you have to improvise and usually these are those little projects that stand out and makes your life more easier. |
