So far my biggest wood project yet, I've made this bed frame back in April of 2019. I've use 2X4's lumber from the big blue box store, I had to cut all the size need it for the frame for a queen bed. I've used my Kraig Jig Pocket Hole to assemble the whole thing together and sand out most of the boards that had ink marks. Once I've finish doing all these I've taken all the parts to my room and put them all together to make the frame. It came out pretty good since it was the first time I did something this big, the frame is holding up great, I did not make feets nor I've painted the wood. I think that there is an open window for improvement for this frame in the future, but for now it works great. This Harbor Freight 8 Inch Drill Press is going to be a great addition to the shop. Is just perfect for my needs and it works great. The Drill Press is very good with wood specially for my small projects and scroll saw starting points. I haven't use it with metal yet but eventually while I learn how to master the tool I'll do some metal work. I did work on the past on making a stand and I've added wheels to it so is perfect to move a round the shop if need it. Is just what I need and is a great tool for me, despite how bad some people have reviewed the Drill press and doesn't like it at all. I guess that depends on how much you are asking for this tool to do, if is for mayor metal work and use 24/7 of course this tool will not perform as expected. This tool is for small projects, for wood workers or metal workers that have small projects to do. being said that I love my Drill Press and I can't wait to do do more projects with it. In my experience working with wood, you need measuring tools to give those exact measurements to the things you create. This tools are crucial for anything that you build whether is a building, a car, furniture etc. In wood working there is a variety of measuring tools, the latest tool I've acquire is a caliper.
This caliper is not the best one in the market, this is my first time using one so I didn't find the need of buying an expensive one until I fully learn how to use it. With this one I can learn and get the knowledge that I need with out spending to much money. This is an Dial Caliper, I did some research and the reason I went with a Dial Caliper is because they are suppose to be more exact. At least that is what Mr. Adam Savage says, how can I ignore the advise of a genius mind. Now the process of learning has begun and is not that difficult, so I'm ready for making perfect measurements. This is something I've been wanting to do since last year and I've finally got to upgrade my Scroll Saw from Harbor Freight. You see, this particular scroll saw is not to solid when it comes to the mechanism of the blades, so there is always someone out there to fix the problem. I've remember watching a video on YouTube when I've got my scroll saw, on how to make the Harbor Freight Scroll Saw pin-less and boala! I've truly believed in what the man in the video was saying, so I went off and check out the link below his video and found out about the person who makes this upgrades for different brands of Scroll Saw Pozsgai Designs. The thing was that the upgrade was a little expensive for my budget at the time and never got in to it. This year I feel truly committed to make more wood work, so the Scroll Saw is one of my favorite tools in the shop and after using it again I went back remembering why I've stop using it. The blade was constantly coming out when cutting and that was a bummer. So it was time to invest on the upgrade so I knew were to go. The payment was done, it was shipped super fast and finally I can work on upgrading my Scroll Saw so I can work with no problems. I have to say that the upgrade works great, all my problems went away and now I can make my cuts with no problems. If you encounter the same issue with the Harbor Freight Scroll Saw or any other brand, check this people out they might have a upgrade for your machine and you wont regret it. I've made a video on how to install this upgrade, hopefully this will help you out if you have the same Scroll Saw and the upgrade from Pozsgai Designs. |
