I can't tell you how much joy I have on getting a Japanese Saw. So Japanese saws, called nokogiri, have teeth filed to cut on the 'pull' stroke versus the 'push' stroke, I've always have had so much trouble using a traditional saw cutting wood and some times you just don't need to use your power tools to make certain projects. I've started watching some videos on how to make Japanese Style cabinets and I came across with a very cool video that the guy was using a Japanese Saw, the work he was doing was outstanding and I felt the need to try a similar saw. Ryoba, meaning double-edged, is a saw with cutting teeth on each side of the blade. Typically, the teeth on one side of the blade are filed for crosscutting, while the teeth on the other side are for rip cutting. So I knew Harbor Freight carried this type of Japanese Saw, but I've never pay attention to it until now. Even though is a cheap saw and wanted to try it before I get into the real thing. So off I went and bought the saw with a 20% coupon, best deal ever. Got back home and got a piece of wood and started cutting, the thing was like butter I was very impress. I've been so inspired by it to make more things, that ideas are coming left and right. The first thing I've made was a cutting jig for it and then I went into the adventure of making some Japanese Saw Horses that are still on the works . So much fun!

I've made this mini deck just for fun and place to grill in those summer days, also protecting the grill from the dirt. I might extend the deck but for now this is what I've done so far. This was a weekend project where I was eager to do something to the little garden, so I went outside got a free reclaimed palette from a bunch that I was given and started the project. All I've used for this project was a Palm Sander from Harbor Freight, Diablo sanding paper ultra coarse 40 Grit/Grains that I've got at Home Depot, gloves, screw driver, paintbrush, paint bucket and Minwax Stain Jacobean 2750 one of my favorites and finished up with Shellac Clear which is not shown on the video or pictures. You can get all this things at your favorite Hardware Store. Over all it was like a one hour project that came out nice, gave a little something to the grill to look better and have an specific spot to grill in the Little Garden. Have fun making one, get your tools and stains and work on it :) I've been working on a small project for a friend, making mini palettes out of balsa wood with wood sticks. The idea behind it is to glue them together and then cut the round edges with the scroll saw so it becomes a straight cut and the mini palette looks more realistic. This will be sand off and the stained and finished it with shellac, the purpose of this mini palette is for her garden or inside the house to place her flower pots. I've never use a Trim Router before so bare with me, for starters I've went to Harbor Freigh and got the Drill Master 1/4 In. 2.4 Amp Trim Router, read the instructions and some videos to make sure that I was doing the right assembly and usage of this tool. Over all is a very powerful tool for small projects, I like the way it feels but I know that I need to practice more in order to get the right usage, I don't like to much the router bit set I've got so I might invest in better ones. Enjoy the video :) Finally we are on business, after a while I've decided to open an online store for my Wood creations. Please take a look around, all the items are hand-made my wooden pieces are selected and craft with allot of care and love in my wood shop. This is a great opportunity to support my YouTube Channel, where I offer wood working videos. Come one in!
I do thank everyone that has supported me in one way or another in this venture! |
