I've bought a set of 4 wood chisels at Harbor Freight a while ago, the first time I've used them were ok but I didn't know what a very sharp chisel can do. After watching a bunch of videos on how to sharp your wood tools I've got a set of Diamond Blocks from, again Harbor Freight and I've made a sharpening jig for them made out of pinewood and oak wood. What I've learned over the process is that no matter what kind of chisel, plane or any tool like that with a sharp edge right out of the box, you have to go through the job of sharpening the tools so you can get the best out of the tool. After making my own set up it worked great, but I had to add 2 more sharpening blocks made out of wood and sand paper to make a total of 5 steps. For being my first time trying to sharpen this type of tool it worked great, I didn't spend to much money on getting this process done and the outcome was great. The chisels now are extremely sharp and work amazingly good, now when I work with this tools makes me feel like a pro. Meanwhile I'm saving money to get a better set of wood chisels, but for now this are great.
